  1. A comic strip told only with captions? Isn’t that illegal in modern comics? Look how effective that is! Captions have a purpose. They add texture, background and atmosphere to a comic strip. How many of today’s comics have that? I remember seeing a preview on line of a comic book adaptation of a Lovecraft story told only with pictures and dialogue, which ignored the fact that Lovecraft’s descriptions were what made his stories work.
