This episode: John Porcellino!

The one and only Jazzy Johnny P comes to the party floor for some good old jawin’! John is the creator of King Cat Comics, which is one of the longest continually published mini comics in existence, with 77 issues since 1989! The series has been partially collected by Highwater, La Mano and Drawn & Quarterly in the books Perfect ExampleDiary of A Mosquito Abatement Man, King Cat Classix, The Hospital Suite, Map of My Heart, and the upcoming From Lone Mountain. He’s legendary – There’s even a movie about him!

John just dropped the new issue of King Cat, which is full of John’s great brand of animal stories. We talk about the critters in his life, gross stuff involving dog butts, the entire history of John’s comic career, and his efforts as a one man distro house under the venerable banner of Spit and a Half.

John’s only just added a new title to his list of roles: publisher! The Complete Strange Growths: 1991-1997 collects (almost) all of Jenny Zervakis‘ comic of the same name, along with a variety of anthology appearances. Jenny’s work is influential to John and he gets into that influence and what made him finally go from self-publisher to publisher.

BUT FIRST: Mike and Zack talk about Delaware Punch! Progress with projects! And a VANCAF scene report!
